Australian IndyCar driver Will Power was released from hospital after breaking two vertebrae in a crash during a practice at Sonoma, California, at the weekend.
He left the hospital in Santa Rosa, California, on Thursday and was to return to his home in Indianapolis to continue recuperating, according to a statement posted on IndyCar.com.
Power suffered a concussion and compression fractures of two veterbrae in his lower back when his Penske car collided with the stalled car of French driver Nelson Philippe on Saturday in practice for the IndyCar race at Infineon Raceway.
Philippe, who required surgery on an open fracture of his left foot and also broke his right leg, left hospital on Tuesday and was to continue his recovery at his home in Florida.
Power was fitted with a back brace and is expected to make a full recovery.
