Aussie Power takes sixth IndyCar pole of season

Australian Will Power captured his sixth pole position of the IndyCar season on Saturday, the season series points leader setting the pace among qualifiers for Sunday's Indy Edmonton race.

Power, who won last year's Edmonton race from the pole, took his third Edmonton pole in four years and his eighth career IndyCar pole in a time of 1min 0.713secs with Brazil's Helio Castroneves second in 1:00.789.

New Zealand's Scott Dixon was third followed by Scotsman Dario Franchitti, the reigning Indianapolis 500 champion, Aussie Ryan Briscoe and Venezuela's E.J. Viso. It will be Viso's best starting spot of the season.

Power leads the season driver's standings entering the 12th of 18 season races with 377 points, 42 more than Franchitti. Dixon is third in the points chase on 299, seven ahead of Briscoe.
