Sebastian Vettel stormed to his fourth pole position of the season during qualifying for Sunday's European Grand Prix on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Red Bull driver set a time of one minute 37.587 seconds as Australian team-mate Mark Webber completed the one-two for the Milton Keynes-based team who have now collected eight pole positions in nine races.
Briton Lewis Hamilton will start in third position ahead of improved Ferrari drivers Spaniard Fernando Alonso and Brazilian Felipe Massa.
Pole Robert Kubica will start in sixth followed by Briton Jenson Button in the second McLaren.
Kubica was quickest in the 20-minute Q1 opening session which saw the three 'new' teams eliminated along with Japanese Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber.
That meant Kobayashi, 23, joined Lotus drivers Italian Jarno Trulli and Finn Heikki Kovalainen, Virgin drivers Brazilian Luca Di Grassi and German Timo Glock, and Indian Karun Chandhock and Brazilian Bruno Senna of Hispania.
Vettel was quickest in Q2 while under-pressure comeback kid Michael Schumacher was again out-paced by Mercedes team-mate and fellow German Nico Rosberg and failed to make the top ten for the second time this season and will start in 15th, his worst qualifying position since his return to the sport.
Swiss Sebastien Buemi of Toro Rosso, Rosberg and Force India drivers German Adrian Sutil and Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi will start ahead of Schumacher, while Spaniard Pedro De La Rosa of Sauber and Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguesuari will start in 16th and 17th.
German Nico Hulkenberg will start in eighth ahead of Williams team-mate Brazilian Rbens Barichello despite setting the exact same time.
Russian Vitaly Petrov will start in tenth in the second Renault.
