Britain's Jenson Button won the 2009 Formula One world championship here on Sunday.
The Brawn GP driver finished fifth at the Brazilian Grand Prix which was won by Australia's Red Bull driver Mark Webber.
Button climbed up from only 14th on the grid in one of his best drives of the season to clinch the title with one race to go.
The Briton, who succeeds compatriot Lewis Hamilton, goes into the last race in Abu Dhabi on November 1 with an unassailable lead on 89 points, from Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel on 74 and Button's Brawn GP teammate Rubens Barichello on 72 points.
"We are the champions," Button sang from his cockpit after crossing the finish line.
Brawn GP also clinched the constructors title.
