Ferrari faces Formula One disciplinary hearing

Formula One team Ferrari awaits fate at FIA disciplinary hearing over German GP incident

Ferrari is awaiting a decision on whether it will face sanctions from Formula One for breaking rules on team orders at the German Grand Prix.

Ferrari faced a hearing Wednesday after Brazilian driver Felipe Massa let teammate and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso overtake him to win the race on July 25.

A ruling was expected later in the day from FIA's World Motor Council.

The council has the power to expel Ferrari from the championship, but a fine or points deduction seems more likely.

If Alonso is stripped of the race victory, he would fall 66 points behind current leader Lewis Hamilton in the drivers' standings.
